  6. to be fair, you didn't say you'll get it published.

anyhow, writing is the important part.

  7. @ani_aset and phatichar - thank you! now THAT is faith.

@JD - point well made. I'm also likely to write a book and never mention it to anyone, so you're perhaps more on point than you thought. :)

  8. ah, yes. neither for financial gain, nor critical acclaim. of course.

i do think that writing and then, liking what you write are the important parts. others reading it, and liking it are comparatively quite insignificant.

  9. not necessarily; sometimes I write for me, and sometimes i write for an audience. The standards I employ to evaluate both would be the same, but it would certainly make a difference to me that my book, that I wrote for an audience, lacks an audience.

However if you mean to say that personal satisfaction is primary, then you're right. I like very little of my work, but I'd have to like something before I even consider publication.

  10. uh.. yeah .. thats what i meant .. er.. that second thing. my sentiments exactly. though for me, quality consciousness has taken a beating, while publishing on an anonymous blog at 4 in the morning.
